Transits During Virgo

modular-pantry-shelving-organization[1]The Sun enters the sign of Virgo on August 22 at 4:02 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time. Virgo is an earth sign that is associated with the planet Mercury. I’ve named Virgo, “The Perfectionist”, in my book. They love an order to things and will work hard to maintain an organized cupboard. My best Virgo story is from one of my clients who has 4 planets in Virgo in her chart. She carries a little level on her keychain. She told me, “You never know when you might need to straighten something.” After her housekeeper leaves, she levels all her pictures. Now that’s a real Virgo!

Yes, the water Grand Trine that has been with us the entire summer is still here, but only for another few days. It will end, alas, on August 21st. The slow planets of Saturn and Neptune were brought to life by Jupiter in this beautiful geometry. This triangle is such an important transit that I’m writing an article on it for my Virgo newsletter.

The New Moon in Virgo will occur on September 5th. Some feel that Virgo is actually the beginning of a new year and it is the beginning of the school year for many. Virgo has an ability to focus and work. I do what I call a “Virgo-to-do-list.” Write down everything you want to do and start to check off the items one-by-one. Organize something that is in shambles and you will have a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Virgo is also about service, so see if you can help someone with a project. Random acts of kindness work well for Virgo.

We have some sweet visible planets now, starting with the incredibly bright Venus. She’s pretty high in the western sky now, along the ecliptic, right after sunset. Venus is catching up with Saturn, who is a little higher in the sky. For a treat, the New Moon joins both Venus and Saturn on September 7th, 8th and 9th. That will be three of the seven visible planets in one tiny party of the sky, so you don’t want to miss it.

If you’re a morning person, both Mars and Jupiter are in the predawn eastern sky, just before sunrise. Mars is reddish and Jupiter is white and almost as bright as Venus, so you can’t miss them. The Moon joins them both in the eastern sky on August 30th, 31st and September 1st. It will be worth getting up early on those days. The month of Virgo ends when Libra begins with the Autumnal Equinox on September 22nd. Fall is almost in the air.
