It’s time for the Nodes to change signs. On May 6, 2020, the North Node entered Gemini, which I named “Learning on Demand”. Looking back at that time, education will never be the same. It’s now called hybrid learning. Zoom is permanently part of school now. The North Node will leave Gemini and will enter Taurus on December 23, 2021. Let’s get to know what the Nodes are before jumping into this next phase.
Just like the planets, the Moon’s Nodes travel around the Zodiac, only they travel in retrograde motion. They go backwards through the signs and one Nodal Cycle takes 18.6 years to complete, which means they are in a sign for about 1 ½ years. The North Node will be in Taurus from December 23, 2021, until July 13, 2023.
Planets are easy to see moving through the sky, but since the Nodes are points in space, they cannot be seen. I’ve drawn a diagram showing their path, to make it easier to understand. So, what are the Nodes of the Moon?
The Nodes are the points where the orbit of the Moon intersects with the orbit of the Sun. The path of the Sun is called the Ecliptic. The point where the Moon crossed the Ecliptic into the northern latitude is the North Node. The point where the Moon crosses the Ecliptic into the southern latitude is the South Node. This point precesses through the Zodiac and since precession goes backwards, the Nodes are always moving in reverse through the astrology signs. The North Node is in the opposite sign from the South Node so they form an axis in space.
All Eclipses are involved with the Nodes too. When the Sun and Moon join a Node on the New Moon, there is a Solar Eclipse. When the Sun and Moon join the Node on a Full Moon, there is a Lunar Eclipse. In ancient times the name for the North Node was the Dragon’s Head and the South Node was the Dragon’s Tail. They imagined a celestial dragon swallowing the Sun or Moon during an Eclipse. All the Eclipses will occur in Taurus and Scorpio for the next 1 ½ years.
The interpretation of the Nodes usually makes the North Node benefic and the South Node malefic. The North Node is energetically associated with Jupiter and Venus and the South Node is associated with Mars and Saturn. Typically, the North Node brings expansion and new beginnings. The South Node brings completions and endings. They both have karmic implications, meaning they teach important lessons in life. The Nodes also bring a phase to humanity that everyone feels.
We are just ending a phase with the North Node in Gemini and the South Node in Sagittarius. Remote learning and Zoom were introduced with the North Node in Gemini. Travel and higher education are associated with Sagittarius and both were challenged like never before with the South Node there. What will happen with the change of the Nodes into Taurus and Scorpio?
Let’s start with the North Node in Taurus, which is an Earth sign. Taurus loves nature, plants and the environment. This will be a phase to focus on the Earth and the ever-increasing global temperature that has created a much warmer Earth and ocean than ever before. There are currently 27 different volcanos that are erupting right now. We are watching a raging volcano in the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma. Scientists are calling it a tsunami of lava that is pouring down the mountains into the ocean. We will probably see more disruptions with weather during the North Node in Taurus phase. One can only hope that the Earth knows how to balance herself. Mother Nature is all knowing. Gaia is speaking and society will be looking at possible solutions to global warming.
I named this article Back to the Land to honor the earth sign of Taurus. During this time, we will see intentional communities forming that will focus on growing organic food and collective living. People will want to work together and support group consciousness. Communes will be more in vogue that they have been since the 1960s. Body work and healthy routines will be common.
Venus is the planet associated with the sign of Taurus. Beauty and feminine power will come to the limelight. Venus loves luxury and stability and of course, money. The Taurus/Scorpio axis is all about resources, abundance and money.
Let’s take a look at the South Node in Scorpio. Since the South Node is the problem child of this pair, more challenges will show up with Scorpio. Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, is associated with Scorpio. Just like Pluto, the dark side of Scorpio likes to keep secrets and to control and manipulate situations for their own agenda. We are already seeing this with the unprecedented amount of censorship that is occurring in the world now. If anyone has a different opinion from the mainstream narrative, they are being called crazy disinformants and are being fired, censored and deleted from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and whatever platform they are using. Of course, there are new platforms emerging to protect the threatened freedom of speech. Scorpio likes the underworld and we will see a hidden and secretive world emerge. Yes, sex is part of the Scorpio domain and it is likely that trafficking will become more obvious. More financial scandals will be surfacing during the South Node in Scorpio.
Speaking of money, the South Node in Scorpio will bring new economies to the world and new Scorpio banking systems. Cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, will blossom. Digital money might be imposed on society, similar to the Chinese style of currency where everyone has a card and no longer uses cash and are therefore easily monitored and controlled by the government. Will paper money become a thing of the past?
If Taurus is “My money” and Scorpio is “Others’ money”, this phase will also bring a sense of “us versus them”. Corporations and government control over finances are very likely. We have already seen this control with the global lockdowns on businesses and therefore personal finances.
In a perfect world this Taurus/Scorpio phase will see more people being trained in new fields to create new jobs. Computers and robots are replacing many jobs and people will need to be retrained to move forward economically. Also, many people will decide to become entrepreneurs during this time, since many of their jobs will have ended.
Remember that astrology shows what is supposed to happen so we can all be more informed about planetary and nodal cycles. Astrology is very empowering because it tells the truth.
