Over the past month, the World Cup has captivated millions — and in particular, one man and one nation, Erling Haaland and Norway, have become the world's favorites. We have the World Cup to thank for introducing us to a country most people know little about beyond the Viking stereotype. Of course, I looked at Haaland’s chart immediately and just have to share it with everyone. Before we jump into his astrology chart, let’s get to know his life leading up to this amazing summer.
Talk about good genetics! Haaland was born to be an athlete since both of his parents were incredible athletes themselves. Haaland grew up in Bryne, a small town in Norway, and football was his entire life. His father, Alfie Haaland, played football in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest and Leeds United in the UK. So little Erling grew up in locker rooms and could probably kick before he could talk. His mother, Gry Marita Braut, was a Norwegian national champion in the ‘90s in a sport called the heptathlon. That was new to me. It’s a brutal seven-sport event that combines Hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, javelin, 200 and 800m. So genetically, he hit the jackpot.
His childhood was fairly normal as he came up through Bryne’s youth academy like a regular kid, but quite soon Haaland began to score absurd amounts of goals. He has led the Premier League in goals three of the last four seasons and just might demolish all-time scoring records. He truly is one of the best finishers in the sport of football.
One fun fact that made this year so different is that Norway hasn’t been in the World Cup since 1998, which was two years before Haaland was born.
Then the World Cup 2026 happened. This time Norway qualified easily, and Haaland walked into the tournament like a man on a mission. He scored seven goals in four games and brought Norway to a stunning victory over the five-time champion, Brazil. Unfortunately, Norway’s run ended in the quarterfinals against England. The Miami heat took its toll on Haaland and his Norwegian teammates, and they lost. Being a good sport, Haaland left with a big smile and said the tournament genuinely changed him as a person.
Not bad for a small-town kid in the shadow of his football father, quietly becoming not only a scoring machine, but also a star on the world’s biggest stage. Although it wasn’t the ideal ending, he has written himself into Norwegian football history forever.
Now let’s get to know the chart of this hero.
Erling Haaland was born on July 21, 2000, in Leeds, UK. Unfortunately, his time of birth isn’t available, so I calculated his chart for the sunrise on his day of birth. He therefore doesn’t have a rising sign, and I won’t be talking about the houses. Never fear, his chart explains him so well that it’s quite amazing.
Haaland’s Sun is in the family-oriented sign of Cancer, and his Moon is in sensitive Pisces. As you can see from his chart, there is a large cluster of planets on the left side of the chart. It dominates the entire chart, and what amazing planets they are indeed! He has his Sun, the north node and Mars all joined together in a conjunction. That means they work together as a team. The Sun signifies his life purpose, and Mars is the warrior who transforms into the athlete.
The most interesting thing about this grouping of planets is that the good old north node is right in between his Sun and Mars. The nodes are intersecting points between the path of the Sun and the Moon, which determine eclipses. Since his Moon was not connected, he’s not born during an eclipse. Metaphysically the north node describes our natural talents that we were born to use. The sign of Cancer is about community and family, and Haaland was born and raised to do this. It can be said that this is a past life talent he brought with him into this lifetime.
Now let’s look at the entire chart. The red and blue lines are the geometric angles between the planets. The red lines, or oppositions, show our karmic intention and focus this lifetime. The blue lines, or trines, show talents and gifts. With all of Haaland’s redlines emanating from his Sun, north node and Mars, it was his obvious plan to be a star athlete.
Haaland has one more red line between his Venus in Leo on the left to his Neptune in Aquarius on the right side of his chart. Venus in Leo is the showman and star. Neptune is about kindness and empathy. He’s a star but with a heavy dose of humility because of all his planets in the kind sign of Cancer.
In summary of his red lines: Haaland’s only challenge is to continue the legacy of his father and country through his success in football.
Now let’s look at his blue lines. His Moon is in the kindhearted sign of Pisces and is trine to his Mars and north node. He has an emotional connection with his family and community. It also shows an intuition with movement that started in his DNA.
One of my best friends was born in Norway, and she told me that they have a class for children teaching them empathy. Really? Teaching kindness to kids so they will be better adults sounds like a good thing. Good for you, Norway!

Pluto trine Venus is another trine in his chart. Pluto is the planet of power, and Venus is about love. This shows his passion for his family, his country and his sport. Passion is the keyword here.
The last blue lines involve Saturn in Taurus and Jupiter in Gemini on the top left of his chart. Saturn, or Mr. Responsibility, shines in Taurus and is willing to put in the hard work to ensure completion. Jupiter, the planet of success, uses Saturn’s hard work to guarantee success. They both trine his Neptune and his south node. Neptune gives all his hard work a comfortable style. He almost makes it look easy. The south node gives him commitment to proceed with determination.
