    USA and its Pluto Return

Countries can have an astrology chart, just like people, and it seems like a good time to look at the chart of the United States. We have the rare combination of a pandemic, economic disaster, race riots and a Presidential Election all at the same time. Somehow the US is experiencing a virus so deadly that it hasn’t been seen in a century. The economy as a result is more devastated and with more jobs lost than during the Great Depression and riots not seen since the 1960s. That all feels very Plutonic to me. So, what is a Pluto Return and why are all astrologers talking about it now?

Pluto has an orbit of 248 years, so people never get a chance to live long enough to have a Pluto Return. Everyone is used to hearing about your Saturn Return, which occurs approximately every 29 years. A return is when the planet makes its way back to where it was when you were born. That depends on the orbit of the planet, of course. The larger the orbit, the more important the planet and the transit is to you. The orbits are: Mars 2 years; Jupiter 12 yrs; Saturn 29 yrs; Uranus 84 yrs; Neptune 165yrs and Pluto 248 yrs.

Pluto, since it’s the slowest planet, represents death and rebirth at its core. Major transformations, actually, transmutations occur with Pluto transits in a personal chart. It’s when people are born, die, get married, have children and it synchronizes with all the events that change us forever. The USA is having its Pluto Return soon and is guaranteed to bring an almost total transition to this country. Before we look at the transits for the USA, let’s get to know the birth chart first.

Born on July 4th, 1776 at 5:10 p.m., in Philadelphia, the US has its Sun in Cancer, Moon in Aquarius and a rising sign of Sagittarius. The Cancer Sun describes the melting pot of the world by welcoming the “huddled masses” to our shores. This sign is the parent and wants to help others. The Aquarius Moon is interesting since that sign represents new ideas and especially computer technologies. The Sagittarius Rising gives the country an international flavor because, except for the Native Americans, all of us are immigrants from around the world.

Overall, this is a positive looking chart with lots of blue lines. Remember that we’re looking at where the planets were in the sky when they signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. The red and blue lines form the mandala or geometric configuration between the planets. This is what is called Sacred Geometry. The red lines represent challenges and the blue lines explain the talent and positive intentions of the person, or in this case, it’s the USA.

What jumps out in this chart is the cluster of planets in the 7th house of allies and the 8th house of others’ money. This is a chart that is focused on capitalism and making money.

Let’s look at the red lines or challenges first. The Sun is right next to the big guy Jupiter and Venus, which is a very fortunate grouping of planets. There is a truly humanitarian intention with that grouping, especially in the caring sign of Cancer. The challenge side of Jupiter is excess and being in the house of other’s money, can be excessive debt due to overindulgence of the best things money can buy. But the taskmaster, Saturn, is square to them, making sure they must pay their debts back. So, one challenge is overindulgence without thinking of the consequences.

Another red line is from Mercury in the 8th house in opposition to Pluto in the 2nd house. These are both money houses….my money vs their money (creditors, legal situation, inflation, trade wars, the national economy, the stock market). Mercury in Cancer wants to take care of the citizens of the US, where Pluto is in it for corporate greed. Pluto thinks he’s in power because of how he controls resources. Who will win this red line . . . the elite or the will of the people?

I’ve saved the other red line for last because it’s just so juicy. Slippery Neptune at the top square to Mars in the 7th house. The challenge side of Neptune is involved with deceit, misunderstandings, confusion, underhanded dealings and dishonesty. Things are confused on purpose with a bad Neptune. Mars is about action but also aggression, military, arms race, police and bullying. So, there are hidden agendas with this aspect and maybe no one will ever know the total truth.

In summary of the challenges of the US: Overindulgence and lack of transparency with no regard for repercussions

Luckily, there are always blue lines or goodness in all times in history. The chart of the US has lots of wonderful angles to balance out the challenges. The most important part of the US chart is the loving care for humanity with all those beautiful planets in the caring sign of Cancer. The blue lines point to Mars and Uranus in Gemini on the right side of the chart. These define the ingenuity and innovation that the US has always represented. Also, they are in the house of our partners, or allies, which would be great for international collaboration and trade. They form a blue line to the secure business planet of Saturn in the 11th house, who acts like a loving grandfather, making sure his children are safe.

The other blue lines are going to the innovative Aquarius Moon in the 3rd house, which represents the future and equality for all. The last blue line is from strongman Pluto in money to the healer, Neptune, in the 10th house of reputation. Ideally, the US could herald a movement of unity and kindness to help  heal and bring the world together.

In summary of the blue lines or talents of the US: Loving custodianship of the world bringing us all into the future.

The choice of each person, or even country, is to decide whether to keep repeating our challenges or make the change to become the best version of yourself, ensuring the fulfillment of your destiny. It seems the US in now deciding whether to run with its red or blue lines. Will it give into the greed and selfishness inherent in this chart or will it stand up and become its destiny to be an adult country and help its citizens and the world? Let’s look at Pluto and the other transits to see which side the US will take.

I’ve chosen to look at the transits, or current cycles, on election day with is November 3rd. We’re looking at a biwheel with the US chart in the center and the current planets on the outside. I’ve circled the operative transits or the most important connections between the planets now and how they line up with the US birth chart.

I’m going to start with the faster planets that triggering off the US birth chart. Mercury will be retrograde from October 15th and will turn direct on the very day of the election. That is a set up for confusion and misunderstanding leading up to the election day. In addition, Mars is also retrograde in its own sign of Aries, which is much rarer than the Mercury retrograde. Mars will be retrograde from September 10th until November 12th. Mars is stronger since it’s in the sign of Aries. Mars is the warrior and can be more impatient, frustrated and angry in Aries. Two retrogrades on the election day puts a confusion and anxiety on an already anxious day.

Another transit is the Moon and the North Node on the Mars of the US chart. That’s a whole lot of Mars! The North Node is the point of Destiny and is one of the most positive alignments occurring. The North Node wants the US to move forward in a positive way. Thank you, North Node!

Now let’s look at the Pluto Return. This is not just a regular, rare Pluto Return, but has the infamous Capricorn Party on the Pluto of the US! This is beyond being rare, it’s so unusual that it will absolutely make huge changes. The planets forming the Capricorn Party came into more power during the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus. As a result, the entire world was put on an unprecedented lockdown that created an economic disaster internationally. It’s not surprising that Pluto is in the US house of money. The Capricorn Party is triggering off the opposition to Mercury in the chart. Remember, that was about the corporate greed versus the will of the people. Pluto can be ruthless and wants to change things from the ground up and that sure looks like it’s happening that way.

The last transit for the US is transiting Neptune oppose to the birth Neptune. The challenge part of Neptune is fear, doubt and insecurity that is being felt by many, many people. The positive side of Neptune is the healer. Somehow, it’s perfect that Neptune is involved with a world-wide pandemic.

Jupiter and Saturn will be leaving the Capricorn Party in December to enter revolutionary Aquarius to bring a new attitude to the world. But the official Pluto Return will occur from April 21, 2021 through November 1, 2023. Then Pluto enters Aquarius on January 21, 2024. Pluto will be in the futuristic sign of Aquarius all the way until January 19, 2044.

The US is entering the biggest time of change since its birth in 1776. This is a total rebirth for the country and everything will be different as a result. The change has already started and will continue for the next few years at least. It won’t be easy, but its necessary for the rebirth and adulthood of the USA.

One of my good friends had a wise comment about all this. She said if I didn’t see anything in the sky that explained all this change and craziness, she would really be scared. But since it’s obvious, this is all meant to be. Astrology is very soothing in times of unrest and this is definitely a time of instability. But, hey, it looks like it’s all meant to be. I’ve called this the beginning of the Aquarian Age and it’s pretty obvious that is happening. The Ages change every 2,150+ years, which is another and much larger cycle we can add to the Pluto Return, making it all even more important. Once again, Aquarius is about independence, creativity, revolution, innovation and the future. We are seeing the future and the future is Now.
