We are in historic times, and astrology always makes sense of unusual situations. President Biden graciously stepped down and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, for the Democratic presidential candidate to run in the election on November 5, 2024. Of course, I immediately looked at her chart and decided to share it with everyone. This is the time to get to know her.
Kamala was born on October 20, 1964, at 9:28 pm in Oakland, CA. Her Sun is in balanced Libra. Her Moon is in fearless Aries, and she has a smart Gemini rising. She has an unusual chart for several reasons. She was born on an exact Full Moon in Aries. She also has the rare occurrence of having two perfect Grand Trines that form a six-pointed star with red lines connecting them. With 55,000 chart interpretations under my belt, I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen this planetary configuration.
Let’s start with her Sun, Moon and Rising. Her Libra Sun is the sign of the diplomat, who is good at collaborating to get things accomplished. Her Full Moon in Aries is energetic and powerful. Kamala has a Gemini rising that shows her intelligence and wit.
She has a strong Libra Sun because it’s conjunct Mercury in Scorpio, the investigator. Mercury is how she thinks, and Scorpio needs to find the underlying cause of things. In-depth research and focus is the Scorpio superpower. She has hidden information on the inside with a sweet Libra smile on the outside. Do not mistake any kindness and willingness to cooperate for weakness.
Her Sun and Mercury are part of the Aries Full Moon in her chart. The Moon is feminine and Aries is the warrior. She can absolutely fight for her beliefs. My hunch is that she really enjoys a good battle.
Let’s look at her red lines first. The red lines show a person’s challenges and what they want to work on or to fix in this lifetime. The blue lines show the talents and gifts of the person. The overall picture of the chart defines the person’s purpose in life.
Kamala’s dominant red line oppositions are part of her Full Moon in Aries. Her Sun and Mercury in the 5th house are opposing the Full Moon in Aries in the 11th house. One of the keywords of the 5th house is children. She is a fighter for women’s rights, which shows with her strong Aries Full Moon. The Moon is associated with motherhood.
Her other red lines almost form a perfect square, adding to the strikingly unusual geometry in her chart. Let’s start with Saturn in Aquarius in her 9th house. Saturn is the lawyer, and the 9th house is the house of law and justice, making Saturn much stronger. Having Saturn in Aquarius, she wants people to become more independent. It squares Jupiter in Taurus in her 11th house of her goals in life. Jupiter in Taurus is the bulldog of the Zodiac and is relentless. She will never give up on her quest.
Jupiter squares an especially important planet in her chart – Mars in Leo. Mars is the warrior, and Leo is the authority figure. She will not be intimidated by anyone. Mars makes the last square in her chart to Neptune in Scorpio in the 5th house. Neptune is the healer, and she is here to protect children.

Now let’s look at Kamala’s many blue lines. The most positive configuration possible is a Grand Trine, or a perfect blue triangle. She has two Grand Trines, which is the maximum anyone can have. Plus, they balance each other and form an exact 6-pointed star. This is incredibly rare. One is a Fire Grand Trine, and the other is an Air Grand Trine. Fire signs are strong, powerful and command leadership. Air signs are smart, good debaters and are great problem solvers.
Before we look at her two Grand Trines, I need to introduce her North and South Nodes. Her North Node is rising and her South Node is setting.
